Richard and the Pallbearers: Sad Songs

Old man New Thoughts

(Richard and the Pallbearers)

Old man new thoughts

The campfires don’t burn as bright
And the dark things don’t fear the light. These old dirt roads just don’t lead me back home anymore. The troubadours they don’t play and the mariachis they don’t sing and pretty girls don’t like guitar players anymore.

The grey hairs are creeping’ in, and the good times all seem so dim, as we sit down and wipe the dust from our bibles again. Well you were all there with me, when Moses parted the sea, and you looked to the sky and said what have you done lately?

There’s an old church on the edge of town, and the steeple now wears a frown, and folks walk buy, and don’t even tip their hats. The paint has all worn thin, and the pulpit never to be seen again. The stained glass looks like the devil tried to scratch his way in.
